Loyola and quarterback Lucas Ruske were off and running again Saturday in Wilmette.
Ruske scampered for three touchdowns and threw for another as Loyola shot past St. Laurence 37-7 in a Catholic League crossover.
"I have to give credit to my line," said Ruske, who finished with 187 yards on nine carries.
Ruske broke off runs of 54 and 15 yards as Loyola jumped to a 13-0 advantage. Ruske then hooked up with James Martin on a 54-yard touchdown pass as Loyola built a 20-0 lead before the end of the first quarter.
St. Laurence (1-1) closed to 20-7 on an 18-yard run by Josh Hudor. But two plays after the kickoff, Ruske was back to his old tricks, breaking off a 60-yard touchdown run.
"He has done a great job for us in both his starts," Loyola coach John Holocek said. "He has great feet and runs the spread option real well."
Ruske’s performance comes a week after he ran for 150 yards and a touchdown last Saturday to lead Loyola to a 14-6 win over Stevenson.
Mark Puch added a three-yard touchdown in the third quarter for the Ramblers.
