Buffalo Grove moved a step closer to making its second Final Four appearance in three years, beating Warren 25-22, 25-22 Tuesday in the Stevenson Sectional final.

The Bison (29-5) were led at the net by Joe Ascher (10 kills) and Chris Falknor (seven kills). Tom Angerame added 26 assists.

The Blue Devils (34-5) jumped out to early leads in both games, but the Bison took advantage with solid runs every time Warren right-side hitter Ryan Schuette (six kills) was rotated out from the back row.

"He frustrated us with his hitting, his blocking and his serves," Buffalo Grove coach Matt Aiello said. "It's like we took a big breath [when he was out]. We knew that's our time to execute."

There was some confusion late in the match when officials, citing a scorekeeping error, changed the score from a 19-19 tie to a 20-18 Buffalo Grove lead.

"That didn't make a difference," Warren coach Yun Chen said. "[We] like to come from behind. It's definitely harder against Buffalo Grove."
