Glenbard East has never won the DuPage Valley Conference boys volleyball title.
But that can all change this year.
Tim Lovik had a game-high nine kills as No. 4 Glenbard East spanked No. 2 Wheaton Warrenville South 25-21, 25-16 in front of a boisterous crowd Thursday in Wheaton.
“We talked about not backing down, about not giving them more than two points in a row and not giving up the lead,” Lovik said. "The atmosphere was awesome and we came out with a lot of energy."
Peter Dabrowski and Alec Palmer each had five kills and a block, while Dan Mader added 11 assists and three kills for Glenbard East (23-3, 9-1), which lost to the Tigers in the finals of last weekend’s tournament at Downers Grove South.
"I thought we had an off night ," Rams coach Marci Maier said. "The goal was to be firing on all cylinders, bring a better product and see if that was enough to win the ballgame."
Eric Hardek led WW South (21-5, 7-3) with six kills and a block.
