Glenbard North had a big size advantage heading into its Elgin Sectional final match with Lake Park.

But it was a pair of 6-footers who were the difference for the Panthers Tuesday night.

Behind nine kills from Chris Kosirog and seven from sophomore Andrew Chartrand, the Panthers won the program's first-ever sectional title, defeating the Lancers 25-21, 25-18.

"I'm speechless right now," Kosirog said. "We just wanted to win so bad. This was a goal for us at the beginning of the year, and it just feels great."

The Panthers (23-8), who had not won a regional before this year, also got eight kills from Kyle Schwetz.

With the score tied at 18 in Game 2, a kill from Schwetz started a 7-0 Glenbard run to close the game.

"We're known for losing third games," said Schwetz, who served the game's final six points. "So that really motivated us to finish it."

Lake Park finished 29-9.
