For the second time in four days, Waukegan's boys volleyball team took on Antioch, and for the second time in four days, the result was solidly in favor of the Purple & Gold.
After beating Antioch in a consolation-bracket match on Saturday at the Lake County Invitational, the Bulldogs won again on Tuesday, this time 25-20 and 25-22 over the visiting Sequoits in a match at the Dog Pound.
Waukegan's now 6-8 on the season while Antioch is 1-15, with its lone triumph coming over North Chicago in the 15th-place match at the county meet.
Waukegan continued to play without its best athlete, as club player Travis Netherton sits with an ankle injury.
"We still miss Travis, but we got good contributions tonight from Josue Rueda (three kills) and Carlos Maldonado (four kills)," said Bulldogs coach Rachel Wiatrowski.
The match was loosely played, with Antioch getting most of its Game 1 points on Waukegan hitting errors.
In Game 2, the play was better, but still not up to the standards of teams that play for regional titles.
The Sequoits' top player was 6-foot-6 thumper Ryan Zawacki. He had four kills and showed some promise.
