Dolphins have a hairy proposition

First I would like to congratulate the Whitney Young Lady Dolphins girls basketball team for winning the class 4A title last weekend.

You guys earned it. All the hard work you girls put in was finally rewarded.

Also, for all the people who are wondering when the Dolphins men will get haircuts or shave, well, let’s hope it’s no time soon.

It’s something we as a team decided to do, and I will tell you more next week about how it works out.

I would like to commend Kevin Dillard on the excellent season he had. He did a great job.

I am very proud of my teammates for the extra work they have put in for the last leg of our season. It has really paid off.

We won our regional final last week against a very good Morton team. Then we moved on to sectionals to play Oak Park-River Forest, which was a team that didn’t want to lose. But we stuck it out and came out with a victory.

We play Mount Carmel for the sectional championship at 7:30 Friday at Proviso East.

It will be a very good game. Mount Carmel has a lot of momentum coming into the game, so we will have to come out very hard.

The playoffs are amazing to watch because you never know who is going to win. There have been many upsets throughout the state for many of the top teams.

You have to come prepared for every game you play if you are trying to win.

I have been blessed to have the type of teammates that I have had. Everyone cares about one another, and we have a very special bond between one another. This can take our team a long way.

Finally, to my father: He has always been a big inspiration in my life and has always been there for me whenever I have needed him.
