Hey, everybody, it’s AJ again. This past week has been a very upsetting one for the Dolphins.
We lost to Curie in the Elite Eight of the Public League tournament on Sunday at the UIC Pavilion.
We lost because we didn’t play hard or didn’t do what we needed to do to pull away with the win.
But as I said before, there is no time for self-pity because we still have something that’s even bigger than city coming up. The state tournament starts next week.
But I must say that as I’m writing this, I can feel my eyes getting teary. Not because we lost the game, but because I will never be able to play another Public League game again.
I am really going to miss all the fans screaming out obscenities, the players talking trash right in your face and the action night after night.
I believe the Public League has really made me tougher as a basketball player and has prepared me for the future.
There is no other place I would rather play. And I will miss playing for city the most.
As we prepare for the state playoffs, there are many things we will need to get better at if we want to fulfill our dreams of winning a championship.
We need to take one game at a time and of course, play each game like it’s the last one we’ll ever play, because it very well may be.
Everyone can say what they want to say about the Dolphins, but don’t count us out just yet.
My teammate Bryan Hall and I had a long conversation after the game and we talked about what we need to do for the rest of the season.
Let me also add that he is by far one of the best teammates I have ever had, and I am truly going to miss playing with him next year.
Also in closing, a shout out to all my wonderful teachers at Whitney Young.
