Marshall's Darius Smith, the top uncommitted player in the state's senior class, made an oral commitment to Connecticut Monday on Comcast SportsNet.
Smith, a 6-2 guard, chose the Huskies over Arizona State, Cincinnati, Missouri, Purdue, Kentucky, Indiana, Marquette and Oregon State.
Smith averaged 23 points per game this season. He helped lead the Commandos to the Class 3A state championship and the city championship in 2008.
