If you ask anyone on Harper whether it expected to be playing for the sectional championship, the answer would be no.
If you ask them if they were ready to stop playing, the answer would be the same as the Cardinals defeated Lindblom 66-50 in the Class 3A sectional Wednesday at King.
Harper held a 37-33 lead at the end of the third quarter, and then opened up a 54-42 lead with 4:05 remaining in the fourth quarter on a basket by Jonathan Henderson.
Shauntell Jackson led Harper with 18 points. Henderson and Jimmy Holloway scored 11 points each. Henderson also pulled down a game-high 14 rebounds.
Cedric Henderson had a game-high 20 points for Lindblom. Darien Davis added 11 points.
Harper will be playing in a sectional final for the first time in school history.
“This is a big win for our program and the school," Harper coach Narvell Newsome said. “We just basically wore them down.”
