Lake Forest needed double overtime to beat visiting Lake Zurich 60-59 Friday and clinch the North Suburban Lake title.

No. 10 Lake Forest (19-3, 10-1) trailed 38-27 with 2:28 left in the third quarter, but closed with a 10-0 run to cut the deficit to 38-37.

Lake Forest then opened the fourth quarter with a 7-0 spurt to take a six point lead with 4:43 remaining.

Matt Vogrich scored nine of his 19 points during the 17-0 run.

‘‘We just didn’t play very well for most of the game,’’ Vogrich said. ‘‘We did just enough to win and we got a little lucky. But it’s so nice to win the division.’’

Lake Zurich came back and took a 53-50 lead, but Mitch Hopfinger’s three-pointer with 35 seconds left tied sent the game to overtime.

Nobody scored in the first overtime. Lake Forest missed four straight free throws in the extra session.

Hopfinger (15 points) hit two straight field goals to put the Scouts up 57-53 with two minutes left in the second overtime and Kevin Berardini’s three-pointer with 1:47 remaining gave the Scouts the lead for good at 60-57.

‘‘I didn’t realize it went in until I heard the crowd,’’ Berardini said. “

Guard Connor Mooney scored 28 for Lake Zurich (11-13, 3-8).
