Mitch Hopfinger lit the match and Matt Vogrich fanned the flames as Lake Forest torched host Mundelein 72-52 on Thursday night.

Lake Forest (5-2, 2-1 North Suburban Lake) shot out to an 11-0 lead, with Hopfinger accounting for seven of those points.

‘‘That is the way we wanted it,’’ said Hopfinger, who finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. ‘‘They are a good team and like to push the ball. I was happy that I could help.’’

Vogrich, who had 26 points and eight rebounds, helped the Scouts build a 15-2 advantage with 4:02 left in the first quarter.

Mundelein (3-5, 1-3) closed to 39-33 with 5:32 left in the third quarter. But Lake Forest scored the next eight points, and Mundelein never got closer than 11 the rest of the way.

Mundelein was led by Ben Brust, who had 27 points, and Ryan Sawvell, who scored 13.

Josh Bruns came off the bench to score 10 for Lake Forest.
