The 48th annual Proviso West boys basketball tournament announced first round pairings Wednesday night.
The first round games on Dec. 26 are: St. Joseph vs. Homewood-Flossmoor at 9 a.m., defending tournament champion Young vs. Proviso East at 10:30, Glenbrook North vs. Hillcrest at 12:15 p.m., Morton vs. Von Steuben at 1:45, Foreman vs. Fenwick at 3:45, host Proviso West vs. New trier at 5:15, Zion-Benton vs. T.F. North at 7, and Evanston vs. St. Patrick at 8:30.
"This is one of the biggest tournaments in the state at Christmas,’’ Young assistant coach Kevin Bush said. "Winning this is always a good stepping-stone to our conference play. You win this and you have that confidence."
Second round games will be held on Dec. 27, with the semifinals on Dec. 29 and championship game on Dec. 30.

Hyde Park 72, Harlan 56: Anthony Dixon had 18 points and 10 rebounds for No. 12 Hyde Park (2-0). Martell Jackson (14 points, five steals), Malcolm Griffin (13 points, six rebounds, six steals), Aqui Shareef (11 points, five rebounds) and Fabyon Harris (ten points, five steals) all contributed for the Thuderbirds.
King 59, Clemente 45: Emil Clayton had 24 points and 10 assists while Erin Pryor scored eight points and grabbed five rebounds.
T.F. North 68, Schurz 18: Kyle Cane had 13 points and 12 rebounds while Tommy Marshall finished with 10 points for T.F. North (1-0).
Tilden 57, Gage Park 53: Jeralab Bim (22 points, six assists, five steals) and Lamont Woods (15 points, four rebounds, three steals) both contributed for Tilden (3-4).
