Outlook: Former Marshall coach Lamont Bryant should make things interesting as the new coach at South Shore, but Harlan will be tough to beat. Gage Park is formidable. Urban Prep should be the wild card of the conference.

The top five: Toure Atwater, Harlan, F, sr.; Don Kellum, Harlan, C, jr.; Deandre Williams, Bowen, G, sr.; Marlon Sibey, Gage Park, G, sr.; Javon Worthy, Gage Park, G, jr.

Keep an eye on: Danny Robinson, Gage Park, G, sr. Did you know? Harlan was in a three-way tie for first with Brooks and Corliss last year in the Blue-South but was edged out because of tiebreaking rules.

Quote: ‘‘I pray and have my fingers crossed that this is the year we come out of the Blue. The only way to assure that is to make sure your team is prepared. They have to play with intensity and focus every time they hit the court.’’ — Harlan coach Irvin Bryant

Prediction: Harlan, South Shore, Gage Park, Bowen, Urban Prep, CSCU, Ag. Science, Calumet, Prisker, Ace Tech.
