St. Rita's Johnson picks Illinois State

St. Rita guard Terry Johnson gave an oral commitment to Illinois State on Thursday. He'll join another former Mac Irvin Fire player -- Osiris Eldridge -- on the Redbirds.

"I'm real comfortable with [assistant coach] Paris Parham," Johnson said. "He and my dad also have a real good relationship."

Johnson, an excellent student, was impressed with the academic environment at Illinois State.

"They really set it all out for me," Johnson said. "We met with everyone, even the president of the university. It just feels like a very good fit for me."

Johnson chose the Redbirds over Loyola, Drake, Pacific, Fairfield and Miami of Ohio.
