Clutch hitting in the top of the seventh inning lifted Oak Park to a 7-3 win over Sandburg in a Class 4A supersectional at Standard Bank Stadium.
Tied 2-2 in the top of the seventh, Sam Picciotti singled, stole second and scored on Drew Golz’s single up the middle.
After two walks, pitcher Kyle Glancy hit a bloop RBI single to short center.
Pinch hitter Mike Locasto’s RBI singled to left and Mark Bernthal’s groundout scored the last run for the Huskies (28-8).
With one out, Ryan Cowley doubled down the left-field line and scored on an error for the Eagles (29-6). Glancy, who went the distance, ended any rally thought by striking out the last hitter.
‘‘We’ve been scoring runs in bunches the last four games," Oak Park coach Chris Ledbetter said. ‘‘I knew if we could get Picciotti on, we wouldn’t have to sacrifice him to second.
‘‘He’s 19 out of 20 with stolen bases this year. We had our two, three and four hitters coming up, so I felt pretty good. We have a great group of seniors and they came up with some big hits tonight.’’
