Call it a bad case of the jitters for Hancock, but the end result was a 12-1 victory for Harlan in the Class 3A Brooks Sectional semifinal Wednesday.
Harlan scored eight runs on five errors and seven walks and took an 8-0 lead before they got their first hit.
"We watched them beat Simeon on Saturday," said Harlan coach Kenny Fullman. "We did not want them to get into a comfort zone."
Sophomore lefty Jamell Blue earned the win for Harlan (19-12), striking out five, allowing three hits and walking four.
Donovan Norris ended the game early, hitting a two-run homer to left in the bottom of the sixth.
Ronquis Jefferson was 2-for-4 and three RBI, while Steve Clark was 2-for-3 with three RBI.
"We are a much better team than we showed today," said Hancock coach Brad Thompson, whose team finished 19-8. "That victory against Simeon was such an emotional one; we just didn’t bring the same intensity with us today."
