Thanks to a strong performance from pitcher Scott Rasley, Oak Park defeated Lyons 6-2 Tuesday and stayed in the running for another West Suburban Silver title.
Rasley limited the Lions to five hits and finished with six strikeouts.
"My change-up is working well and I tried to mix my fastball in," Rasley said. "I was hitting my spot, getting my first pitch over for strikes, kept the hitter off-balance and tried to hit the outside corner."
In the top of the first inning, JoJo Maldanado cracked a two-run single to right to jumpstart the Huskies (18-7, 12-3). In the fifth, Max Edwards had an RBI single and Joe Kelty had a two-run single in the sixth.
Lyons (17-8, 11-4) got a run in the second and a solo homer from Brian Trefil.
"We came out and competed" Oak Park coach Chris Ledbetter said. "We're in position now where we control our own destiny (for the conference title).
"Scott Rasley pitched a great game and he has done that for us all year."
