Mundelein pitchers Eric Rohe and Justin Piasecki threw back-to-back gems and led the Mustangs to a doubleheader sweep of visiting Stevenson, 1-0 and 11-0, on Saturday afternoon.
Rohe was perfect through the first five innings of the opener, and only allowed one hit while striking out 11.
Patriots pitcher Kyle Ruchin surrendered just two hits, but one of them was a solo home run to Mundelein catcher Brad Medina.
"Both pitchers were outstanding," Mundelein coach Todd Parola said. "[Ruchin] probably didn't deserve to lose, and Rohe didn't deserve to lose."
Rohe helped himself defensively, tagging out a Stevenson runner at the plate on a suicide squeeze attempt in the sixth inning.
In the second game, Piasecki held the Patriots (11-12, 5-5 North Suburban Lake) to two hits. The Mustangs (21-2, 9-1) provided him with more than enough offense, scoring nine runs in the final two innings.
Jack Walliser crushed a two-run homer to left-center in the fourth, and Colton Tortorello and Jamie Baldwin each had two RBI in the game.
