Sandburg right-hander Greg Billo pitched a near-flawless game against No. 4 Lockport - and needed to be that good to earn a 2-0 Southwest Suburban Blue victory on Thursday.
Billo (7-1) struck out 12, walked one and allowed two hits to hand Lockport (14-5, 7-1) its first conference loss.
The 6-foot-3, 195-pound senior held the Porters hitless until Mike Frigo singled with two outs in the sixth inning. Eleven of Billo's first 15 outs were by strikeout.
"That was one of the best pitching performances I've seen in a long time," Sandburg coach Doug Sutor said. "I don't know of any teams that would've beaten Greg (Thursday). Maybe the Cubs, but I don't even know about that."
On any other day, Lockport junior Tyler Willis likely would've earned a win.
The left-hander threw a complete-game four-hitter, but two of those hits were solo home runs by Jim Pipolo and Ryan Cowhey in the first and third innings, respectively, the Eagles (16-3, 7-2).
