You won't find a hotter hitter in the state than Cary-Grove's Kyle Williams, who, for the second straight game, had a performance to remember.
The senior second baseman went 5-for-5 with a grand slam and, if that wasn't enough, blasted a walkoff three-run homer to lift No. 8 Cary-Grove to a wild 12-11 victory over visiting Fremd in a nonconference game Monday.
Williams also doubled, scored five runs and finished with seven RBI. His grand slam in the fourth got the Trojans (9-0) back into the game after Fremd mounted an 8-2 lead.
"I can't really put it into words," said Williams, who on Saturday went 5-for-5 with four doubles and a homer. "I'm just seeing the ball really well and the best part about it is we're winning games."
Fremd (2-1) pushed across three runs in the top of the seventh to take an 11-8 lead behind Mike Tauchman's two-run double. Jason Ford had four RBI for the Vikings, and Todd Dunham went 2-for-3 with two runs scored.
