Jeff Brown and Ryne Gill drove in two runs each as Waubonsie Valley rolled past Oak Park 9-2 Tuesday at North Central College in pool play of the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association summer state tourney.
Gill was 2-for-3 for the Warriors (25-12, 1-0 pool play). Kevin Kirchner and Jeff Brown both drove in two runs for Waubonsie. Kris Singh went the distance for the win, allowing six hits and three walks while fanning four.
Jo Jo Maldanado doubled and drove in two runs for Oak Park (20-7, 0-1).
Waubonsie continues pool play Wedmesday at 1:30 p.m. vs. Naperville Central at Benedictine University. Oak Park faces Lincoln-Way East at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Benedictine.
Lincoln-Way East 10, Naperville Central 0: George Patteson went 2-for-4 with a three-run homer and Jeremy Cruz was 3-for-4 with a two-run homer as the Griffins (13-2, 1-0) blanked the Redhawks in six innings at North Central College.
Derek Saidak was 2-for-5 with three RBI for East and Dietrich Enns pitched a three-hitter with seven strikeouts and three walks.
Mike Oles was 2-for-3 for Naperville Central (29-10).
