Pitching depth, always important in the summer state tournament, became even more vital on Monday.
Faced with the likelihood of a full day of rain, organizers of the Illinois High School Baseball Coaches Association summer state tourney wasted no time in postponing the day's emtire slate of games.
Under the revised schedule, a team will have to win five games in four days -- including a doubleheader on Friday -- to capture the IHSBCA summer state title.
The tournament was essentially moved back one day except for the championship, which remains set for 7:30 p.m. Friday at Benedictine University in Lisle.
Here is the revised schedule:
Pool A -- Waubonsie Valley, Oak Park, Lincoln-Way East, Naperville Central.
Pool B -- Prairie Ridge, Brother Rice, Warren, Elk Grove.
