Shane Mrozek and Ryan March combined on a three-hitter, leading Brother Rice past Shepard 6-2 Friday in the South Suburban Summer League's North Division.

Mrozek picked up his first win of the summer, working four innings and allowing two hits. March closed with three innings of one-hit, shutout relief.

Dan Walsh had a two-out, run-scoring double in the first inning for the Crusaders (13-1). Ricky Palmer, Kevin Koehler and Bobby Schuch also drove in runs for the winners.

Rice returns to action this weekend in the Richards tournament. The Crusaders play Benet (11:30 a.m.) and Glenbard North (4:30 p.m.) on Saturday, and take on Vernon Hills (9 a.m.) and Oak Park (1:30 p.m.) on Sunday.

Lincoln-Way North 9, T.F. North 3: Jimmy Hermle's safety squeeze in the bottom of the fifth put the host Phoenix (8-1) ahead to stay in the South Suburban Summer League South Division game.

Alex Rivera had two hits for Lincoln-Way North, while Pat Nagle worked 3 2/3 shutout innings to earn the win. He allowed one hit. Mike Lang pitched the final two innings for the Phoenix.
