The game didn't begin quite the way Prairie Ridge ace T.J. Swank had imagined. Huntley's second batter of the game lined a shot off the inside of Swank's knee, then the next pitch he threw Craig Lipp drove out of the park.

Gimpy and stunned, Swank could've easily folded. Instead, the senior right-hander was nearly perfect the rest of the way, leading Prairie Ridge to a 5-3 Fox Valley Conference victory over visiting Huntley on Wednesday.

"After that first inning I kind of settled down and had to refocus my mental approach," said Swank, who allowed four hits, struck out seven, with no walks and hit two batters.

At one point, Swank (4-1) retired 11 straight Huntley batters as the Wolves (15-6, 6-0 Fox Division) won their ninth straight game.

Huntley junior Tanner Funke (6-2) held Prairie Ridge hitless through three innings before the Wolves tied it 2-2 in the fourth. Funke struck out eight, walked five and allowed three hits in five innings for Huntley (14-8, 3-3).

Nick Martini gave the Wolves the lead for good with a two-run homer in the fifth and Will Mack added a solo shot in the sixth.
