Jack Cooley, Glenbrook South, 6-8 junior center: Committed to Notre Dame. One of the fastest-rising juniors in the state. Led the young Titans to an upset of highly regarded New Trier in February.
Kevin Dillard, Homewood-Flossmoor, 6-0 senior guard: Signed with Southern Illinois. Sun-Times Player of the Year led the Vikings to the SouthWest Suburban title. Helped H-F to a 25-1 season. Named the MVP of the Proviso West Holiday Tournament.
Michael Dunigan, Farragut, 6-10 senior center: Signed with Oregon. Named to the McDonald's All-America team and to Nike's Jordan All-America team. Two-time All-Area selection led the Admirals to the Public League title game. First-team All-Public League selection.
Nick Fruendt, Batavia, 6-5 senior forward: Signed with Northwestern. His 29-point effort in an overtime loss to Simeon was one of the most impressive performances of the season. Two-time All-Area selection led the Bulldogs to Western Sun title.
Ryan Hare, Marshall, 6-4 senior forward: Uncommitted. Helped the Commandos to third-place finishes at state the last two seasons and to a Red-West title and city championship this season. Two-time All-Area selection, four-year starter and first-team All-Public League selection.
Crandall Head, Rich South, 6-3 sophomore forward: Committed to Illinois. One of the top two sophomores in the state. Exploded onto the scene with his 34-point performance against Champaign Centennial in December at Assembly Hall.
Matt Humphrey, Hales, 6-6 senior forward: Signed with Oregon. One of the most highly recruited players in the senior class. Three-year starter. Named the MVP of the Big Dipper Holiday Tournament. Excellent shooter and defender.
DeMarkus Isom-Jones, Englewood, 6-3 senior forward: Uncommitted. First team All-Public League selection. Averaged 24 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals. Led Englewood to the Red-East title and its first city semifinal in almost 80 years.
Jonathan Mills, North Lawndale, 6-7 junior forward: Uncommitted. Third-team All-Public League selection. Led Phoenix to a 25-4 record. One of the top rebounders in the state and a steady force on a team eyeing its third trip to the state finals.
Jeremy Montgomery, Lincoln Park, 6-2 senior guard: Uncommitted. Third-team All-Public League selection. Four-year varsity star led the Lions to a 17-9 record. Averaged 23 points, six assists and five rebounds. Was nearly impossible to stop from getting to the basket this season.
Jawan Nelson, Bloom, 6-9 senior center: Signed with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. One of the few dominant big men in the state. Three-year varsity player led the Blazing Trojans to a 20-6 record and the SICA South title.
Brandon Paul, Warren, 6-4 junior forward: Committed to Illinois. Considered the top junior in the state by some scouts. His 36-point, nine-rebound game against Oak Park at Pontiac is considered one of the command performances of the season.
Carl Richard, Richards, 6-5 senior forward: Signed with Indiana State. One of the elite athletes in the state, with a rare combination of power and speed. Led the Bulldogs to a 23-4 record and the South Suburban Conference title.
AJ Rompza, Young, 5-9 senior guard: Signed with Central Florida. Four-year varsity star led the Dolphins to a 22-5 record and the Red-Northwest title. Has earned fan-favorite status with his hard-nosed style. First-team All-Public League selection.
Supo Sanni, Homewood-Flossmoor, 6-4 senior forward: Signed with Illinois for football. Teamed with Kevin Dillard to lead the Vikings to a 25-1 record. Averaged 16 points and eight rebounds. Incredible rebounder and shot-blocker.
Iman Shumpert, Oak Park, 6-4 senior guard: Signed with Georgia Tech. Named to the McDonald's All-America team and to Nike's Jordan All-America team. Led the Huskies to a 22-5 record and the West Suburban Conference title.
Stan Simpson, Simeon, 6-9 senior center: Signed with Illinois. First-team All-Public League selection. Developed into one of the top big men in the state this season. Averaged 19 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks.
Darius Smith, Marshall, 6-3 junior guard: Uncommitted. The most accomplished junior in the state. Helped Marshall to third-place finishes at state the last two seasons and to the city title this season. Might be the top defender in the city. Second-team All-Public League selection.
Nicholas Waddell, Englewood, 6-6 senior center: Committed to Chicago State. Came out of nowhere to be a third-team All-Public League selection. Helped the Eagles to a 23-3 record and the Red-East title.
